  • Owner and Driver, Cory Roper/Roper Racing Team are headed to Vegas Motor Speedway for the Strat 200 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, Friday, February 21st, 2020. This will be Roper’s 3rd season with the truck series and 3rd trip to Vegas Motor Speedway. Roper’s best start position was in Vegas when he started 5th in 2019. Cory and his wife Cherie were married in the small town of Lockett, Texas and then Honeymooned in Las Vegas 23 years ago this year.

Last Race: Roper and the #04 Alliance Aviation Ford F-150 started 19th and finished 14th at the Daytona NextEra 250!

The Team: Roper Racing headquarters are located on the outskirts of Houston, Texas in Mont Belvieu. Roper Racing’s 2020 season marks the team’s third year in competing in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. The team plans to run a full season for 2020 and continues to build sponsoring relationships for an upcoming successful race team. The core of the team has worked with Cory for many years. Not only are they all hard workers, many friends, and family members, who work all day at their regular jobs but stay late nights at the race shop because they are dedicated to the success of the team.

The Driver: 2020 marks the 3rd season in the NASCAR Truck Series for Cory Roper. Roper is not only the driver but the team owner as well. Driving in Nascar has been a lifelong dream for Roper. Cory has been around race cars and working in a race shop for most of his life. He grew up watching his dad, Kenny Roper, compete. At the age of 14, Roper got his first racecar and started competing on a local and regional level at short tracks in Texas and Oklahoma where he won points and track championships. The Vernon, Texas, native now resides in Mont Belvieu near Houston, Texas with his wife, Cherie, and daughters Megan and Britney. After purchasing trucks and equipment from Brad Keselowski Racing, he made the decision to build a truck team himself through his construction business, Preferred Industrial Contractors (PIC), that he started over 10 years ago.

The Crew Chief: NASCAR veteran Shane Whitbeck serves as crew chief for the No. 04 CarQuest Auto Parts Ford F-150. The Sarasota, Florida, native previously worked at Brad Keselowski Racing for 10 years. Whitbeck relocated to Texas at the end of 2018 season as a full-time Crew Chief for Roper Racing.

What are your goals for the Strat 200 race in Vegas?

“We are excited to have a new sponsor this season with CarQuest Auto Parts. I feel like Vegas is one of our best tracks. We are ready to redeem ourselves from last year’s incident and bring home a top 10 finish.”

What are your goals for the Strat 200 race in Vegas?

“Coming off a solid run at Daytona, I am looking forward to getting to Las Vegas in the Ford F-150 CarQuest Auto Parts truck. I am really happy to have CarQuest Auto Parts on the truck at one of Cory’s favorite tracks. The truck we are bringing is the second truck we put the body on at Roper Racing headquarters so we are looking forward to getting it out there. “
